HISTORY
Muslim Society of Prince Edward Island was created in 1990 to serve the needs of the growing Muslim community in Prince Edward Island.
MISSION
The Mission of the Muslim Society of Prince Edward Island (MSPEI) is to aggregate Muslims in the Island, produce and develop necessary resources to server them, endeavor be in service to Islanders and promote better understanding of Islam among the people of PEI.
CONSTITUTION
The Constitution of the Muslim Society of Prince Edward Island aims to establish the basis upon which the society is established, joined, managed, affiliated to and affiliated with, and its long term aims and goals.
The Constitution and Bylaws have been recently updated to cope with the increasing demands of the society and the factors impacting the community upon which it operates.
MISSION
To empower and nurture a thriving, compassionate, and cohesive Muslim community in Prince Edward Island that is rooted in Islamic values and dedicated to serving its members, the Muslim community, and the broader society.
PURPOSES
- To foster faith development and growth by teaching the core beliefs and values of Islam.
- To facilitate worship by establishing and maintaining mosques where services are conducted in alignment with the tenets and teachings of Islam based on the Qur’an and the authentic Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings be upon him).
- To promote Islamic education through a dedicated Islamic school, providing Islamic instruction for children and youth.
- To extend a helping hand to those in need and provide necessary support during times of hardship, both within and beyond the Muslim community.
- To support children, youth, and families in crisis by providing counselling and addressing their immediate needs.
- To foster interfaith understanding and cooperation by building partnerships with other faith-based organizations and communities, promoting mutual respect.
MASJID DAR AS-SALAM
On July 14, 2012, Masjid Dar As-Salam, PEI’s first permanent mosque opens.
